Allison Hertog comes to the fields of special education and disability law with a unique background. She overcame a learning disability as a child. Her parents were told she’d never go to college. It’s that experience which propelled Allison to represent students with disabilities. She’s even been interviewed in respected publications because of her inspiring story.
Allison is one of a handful of lawyers in the country who holds a master’s degree in special education and is a former special education teacher.
Ms. Hertog has over 20 years of focused legal IDEA experience in two of the largest school districts in the country, Miami-Dade and Los Angeles. She has spoken nationally on various important topics in the field.
Hundreds of parents on both coasts have sought her out for legal assistance. Ms. Hertog is respected nationwide as possessing exceptional analytical and negotiation skills while closely focusing on individual client’s needs.
As co-counsel with the National Women’s Law Center, Alice K. Nelson and Stroock, Stroock & Lavan, she successfully represented a Miami high school victim of sexual harassment in federal court.
She was drawn to the field because of her own struggle with learning disabilities as a child who was retained in the second grade. After graduating from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, Ms. Hertog earned a degree in special education from Columbia University’s Teachers College in New York and a law degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. She’s licensed to practice law in California, Florida and New York.
